IMTA actor Elijah Wood joins the cast of The Experiment!

MTV Movies Blog reports that Elijah Wood will join the Oscar-Winning cast of The Experiment!
IMTA Elijah Wood joins Adrien Brody, Forest Whitaker and Cam Gigandet in the remake of acclaimed 2001 German film.

Elijah got his start at IMTA in 1989 when he caught the eye of the famed superagent Al Onorato. He moved from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Los Angeles and booked his first roles in Paula Abdul's memorable video Straight Up and the feature film Back to the Future Part II. Elijah has starred in over 40 feature films in his career and is one of Hollywood's (and IMTA's!) most-loved actors!

IMTA INSIDER SCOOP: We'll never forget Elijah's performance during the Talent Showcase when he forgot a few of the words to the song he was singing, Don't Worry Be Happy. He did an impromptu duet with our emcee Russ Fega that had the whole crowd rooting for him. The entire Talent Showcase audience was charmed by his ability to recover. Elijah's song got a huge round of applause!

Here's the scoop on his latest feature film according to the MTV Movies Blog: The Experiment will be directed by Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) from his own screenplay. It’s a remake of the 2001 German film Das Experiment, which centers on a group of ordinary men recruited to take part in a psychological research study. They’re divided up and put into prison. Some land jobs as guards, others are locked up as prisoners, all with the intent of studying how they react to their assigned roles, and to positions of power and control.

The experiment goes sour as the guards go drunk with power, and develop authoritarian tendencies, going to great lengths to hide their abusive actions from the researchers in order to keep their power trip going. The prisoners also band together in order to resist… and if you suspect things get really ugly, you’d be right.

Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard attend the premiere of Public Enemies

Both of these two are beautiful, but we still wish Johnny Depp would cut his hair a little shorter.

Eddie van Halen gets married

We think they look very happy together.
They were married in Studio City CA, with Alex van Halen officiating.
There was no alcohol served at the wedding, serving apple and pear sparkling cider instead.
At the reception, corn dogs, hamburgers, french fries, filet mignon, chicken and mojito prawns were served, followed by an olive oil cake with strawberries.

Jude Law borrowed this top from Sienna Miller

Britney's fake blonde hair used to make her look like trailer trash....

...and the brown color does little to change this situation.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick show off their oddly named twin girls

These names were almost as bad as Phinnaeus and Hazel.
Our other thoughts are:
Pictures of newborns are pretty pointless.
We like the fact that they finally cut their son James' hair.
Matthew Broderick looks about 68.

Solange Knowles wears another get-up designed by her mother

This must be payback for bratty behavior as a child.

Drea de Matteo may be joining Desperate Housewives

We love her so we're happy about this.

Someone needs to call 911 for Kate Hudson's hair

Kate Hudson had to dye her hair brown for another crappy movie she's doing and the mixture with her old dyed blonde hair is starting to look weird. In other news, she and A-Roids are still going strong. Cut to two weeks from now, when she gets back together with Owen Wilson, dumps him for being too much of a downer, hooks up with someone else and then gets back together with Owen Wilson only to dump him weeks later.

Mercy helps Madonna and Guy reunite

Guy Ritchie had a chance to meet Mercy in Malawi when he was still married to Madonna. This past weekend, everyone had a chance to reunite and the meeting between Guy and Madonna was described as cordial. Supposedly, Madonna and Guy aren't at each other's throats anymore and Guy has even met Madonna's boytoy, Jesus Luz.

At what point will these two start tattooing their faces?

It looks like they're getting close to going that route.

We're surprised that our parents haven't seen this movie yet. They've seen every romantic comedy that's every been made. We're not kidding.

Heidi Klum stays active and shows off her baby bump

These two might be dating

Vanessa Minillo who recently parted ways with Nick Lachey, is not going back to dating sports stars (as we originally thought she would). Instead she's chosen to date pale and scrawny actors. We doubt this hook-up will last more than a week.

Britney Spears goes out and about with her new boyfriend/babysitter Jason Trawick

Ana Ortiz gives birth to a girl named Paloma Louise

Originally she said that she was going to name the baby Ramona. No offense to anyone named Ramona, but that's a horrible name. We like the name Paloma, though-- it's very pretty.

Kendra Wilkinson married Hank Baskett on Saturday at the Playboy mansion

The happy couple was seen in the top photograph at LAX, en route to their honeymoon. Our guess is they went to either Mexico or Hawaii.
-
The bridesmaids wore lavender dresses that don't look too hideous and the bride wore a white monstrosity that she designed herself. It's very 1986 for our taste- just a little too much material and too satiny. Her hair looked nice though.
-
At the last minute she decided to have her brother walk her down the aisle instead of Hugh Hefner, since the 6:45 pm ceremony was past Hugh Hefner's bedtime.

Lindsay Lohan turned 43 this past weekend

To celebrate her 23rd birthday, Lindsay Lohan went to Las Vegas- which seems like the perfect place to go if you are a recovering drug addict/alcoholic.

She must have been really boiling in this outfit in the dead of summer.

Beyonce shows up to the BET awards

The BET awards was another opportunity for everyone to focus on Michael Jackson and the circus surrounding his death. Over the weekend, everyone probably heard the news that MJ was a big pill popper and his doctor is being investigated.

IMTA Alum Sofia Vassilieva in My Sister's Keeper!

IMTA alum Sofia Vassilieva's highly anticipated film, My Sister’s Keeper opens today nationwide! Sofia competed at IMTA in New York, where she won the title of Child Actress of the Year and she was the first runner-up for Child Model of the Year 2000! While competing Sofia garnered a lot of interest from the managers, agents and casting directors who were scouting at the Convention. If you are interested in IMTA, please click here! Sofia signed with a manager and went on to star in many films such as Eloise at the Plaza, The Brady Bunch in the White House, Inhabited, Hurt, and Day Zero. Sofia also won a Best Supporting Young Artist Award in 2006 for Best Performance in a TV Drama for her work on the television series Medium!

My Sister's Keeper is a very touching and dramatic story about how one daughter finds out she was born as genetic match to keep her cancer stricken older sister (played by Sofia) alive. The film is adapted from Jodi Piccoult's novel My Sister's Keeper. It is truly a heart-wrenching story which highlights how the moral and ethical decisions these parents made effected their two daughters. Cameron Diaz plays Sara Fitzgerald, Abigail Breslin plays Anna Fitzgerald, the younger sister and Sofia plays Kate Fitzgerald, the gravely ill sister.

Sofia's award-winning show Medium will change networks from NBC to CBS this Fall. This spooky drama will move to CBS' primetime lineup for Fridays when it changes networks and begins its sixth season. Sofia stars as Ariel Dubois, the daughter of the main character, Allison (Patricia Arquette). The show is an intriguing series based on a real-life story of a psychic who uses her abilities to solve crimes. Sofia was been nominated by the Charitable organization Stand Up To Cancer as one of their celebrity ambassadors for 2009! The ambassadors work together with a team to increase awareness and raise funds for cancer research.
