Fall is my favourite time of year!
I love the crisp, clean air and can’t wait to pull out my cosy warm sweaters.
At the start of fall I like to change up my home’s decor to prepare for the winter’s nesting period. Here’s a few things that you may want to do to bring fall into your home.
1. Place some pinecones and nuts in vases or bowls.
2. Switch the covers on throw pillows from summer weight linens to ones with more texture and softness (like velvet, wool and damask). Using colours such as tan, brown, orange or gold will also adds warmth to your sofa, chair or bed.
3. Adding a fall wreath on the front door or window. It could include hydrangeas, pinecones, berries, leaves or gourds, etc… This one below is made of straw flowers.
4. The white candles of summer can be changed to gold, yellow, orange or red ones to add that fall glow.
5. Add a table runner in fall’s rich shades to your table or make a table centerpiece out of gourds, small pumpkins, leaves and pinecones. I use real ones and some ceramic ones like these below.
6. Also in the kitchen, place out a large bowl of fresh red apples. It doesn’t hurt that it may encourage some healthier eating choices.
7. Change the hand soap in the powder room to one that is cinnamon, pumpkin or apple scented.
8. Light the fire - if you are lucky enough to have a fireplace in your home – a roaring fire adds so much warmth and romance to a room. Also change your mantel display to one with warm colours and texture. This is mine from last fall.
9. Use some fall branches or berries from your back yard to decorate your home. Just cut and place in a large tall vase to enjoy!
10. Add nubby woollen throws to your sofa. Throws in velvet, corduroy or damask would also be lovely to cosy up with when the air is chilly.
Hope these hints help with your fall decorating and let me know which ones you try or if you have some of your own.
I believe that every space can be comfortable, warm, elegant and beautiful. I would love to help you achieve your beautiful space!
