Steve Irwin, 44, has died today. The Crocodile Hunter was killed by a stingray in a freak accident while filming a documentary in Australia. We are totally and utterly devasted by the news. Steve's death is a huge loss for the conservation community and for the world as a whole. Steve often sacrificed his own safety for the larger goal of protecting animals. As he once said, "Every chance I get, I will put my life on the line to save crocs." His enthusiasm and passion for animals of all kinds and commitment to educating people about wildlife will not be forgotten. Our heart goes out to Steve's family: his wife Terri and their two children, Bindi Sue, 8, and Bob, 2.
