I love French design! I love the muted colours the black & white drama, the marble, the antiques and of course, the rod iron!
We’ll start with entries….
Traditional Home MJ Donahoe
What drama! These wall sconces are something else – they look like they were once in a castle. Love that dresser turned console. What a romantic staircase!
Home & Gardens Sept 08 Judy Berg lass
Another romantic staircase and what beautiful iron banisters! Even the windows have the similar black accents.
Canadian House & Home Jan 10 Per Kristiansen
What could be more French than a black & white checked floor and a chandelier in the same space?
Now bathrooms….
Canadian House & Home
Of course a claw foot tub with exposed plumbing, monogrammed towels, black trimmed cabinet glass, chandelier and framed artwork….so French!
Home & Garden Sept 05 Jane Uglow
Don’t they look so relaxing with their claw foot tubs and white scheme? Love the wood in this one.
Now boudoirs…..
House & Garden Sept 05 Jane Uglow
Gorgeous furniture though probably a little too delicate for me – I like furniture to be a bit more sturdy.
Home & Garden Sept 03 Michelle Foster
This one is more me – love the shuttered window. The beds look almost identical!
Canadian House & Home
Love the black doors and the touches of black in this modern rendition. I’m thinking that little bronze mirror is not quite the right scale…
Traditional Home MJ Donohoe
What a dramatic bed – wish I could see more of it! Again muted colours and lots of black accents with black trimmed windows.
Now kitchens….
Canadian House & Home
Another chandelier but mixed with beautiful wood floors and distressed wood table – again, notice the black trimmed French doors!
Homes & Gardens Sept 08 Judy Berglass
Of course marble is quintessentially French and this modern kitchen uses traditional French elements to give it that feeling.
Canadian House & Home Michael Graydon
A French country kitchen with old wood cabinets and a fantastic stove. Just look at the bead board, crown mouldings and deep window sills, not to mention the stone walls. Love the touch of copper! Can’t you just imagine having freshly baked bread with melted butter on a sunny morning. YUMMM
Homes & Gardens Sept 04 Michelle Foster
Another French country kitchen with butcher block counters, farm sink, wood posts, old style faucets and I’m loving the huge peonies – especially at this time of year!
Canadian House & Home Michael Graydon
A modern black and white French kitchen with small mosaic tiles on the floor and marble counters on the black island. Of course the black Eiffel tower is a beautiful focal point as are the gorgeous flowers!
Traditional Home MJ Donohoe
Love everything…the window bench with its’ loose cushions, the rough hewn beam ceiling, the limestone floors, the coach lamp centered within the windows. Again dark trimmed windows…
Canadian House & Home Nov 08 Angus McRitchie
Muted colours and a dramatic chandelier make this such a beautiful room! The simple crown mouldings and detailed ceiling medallion add to the luxury. That tablecloth almost looks like a quilted coverlet (it probably is).
Canadian House & Home April 08 Ted Yarwood
Love this room though I would not have put that light fixture up – I definitely would have gone with either a sparkly chandelier or a huge black coach lamp. And that’s some table!
Canadian House & Home Virginia MacDonald
A country dining area with distressed wood table, coach lamp and beautiful pine armoire. Simple and beautiful!
Traditional Home Marshall Erb
Another bench seat – a little more formal and very cool having all those botanical prints set up to make it quite the focal point. Love the table base.
Last but not least, living rooms….
Canadian House & Home Nov 09 Monica Richard
A relaxed french style living room – the chair and mirror are awesome!
Homes & Gardens Sept 04 Michelle Foster
A more french country style with lots of blue, floral and checks. Looks like there is some farm land and chickens right outside the door.
Canadian House & Home Nov 09 Monica Richard
Looks like Napoleon would be at home here – a little too much for me but I do like the red chair and the black stools.
Canadian House & Home Oct 07 Virginia MacDonald
Great black painted wood floors and book cases and cute striped settee.
Traditional Home MJ Donohoe
Beautiful wood work and arched windows in this one. Layered carpets and bleached wood accents help to make this a quite a modern interpretation!
Now after seeing all these examples do you like French style or just parts of it?
I believe that every space can be comfortable, warm, elegant and beautiful. I would love to help you achieve your beautiful space!
