Derek, like I said earlier, I'm really sorry I wasn't able to help you BEFORE you laid out your hard earned cash but you really did a GREAT job with the video. I'm sure your story, and your EXCELLENT video documenting it, will save someone else from the same outcome in the future.

Since the update, my iChat doesn't display my contacts names from Facebook anymore, just their numeric ID.
Anyone who has a clue how to fix this?

It is the unibody MacBook. Will it hurt anything to try installing it?

It looks like MJ and Mr. M gave you some great tips.
MJ was correct, I was thinking the airport side of things. But it now looks like the PB side of things.
Agree with the others, get it to Apple to be fixed. That way you'll be sure the problem is corrected.
MJ and Mr. M, great job! :D
Oh, and after you get your PB fixed, you may still have problems connecting to your Airport. In that case delete the preference file first. If that doesn't work, then I would reset the Airport and then use the Airport Setup utility to set up the Airport. Just be sure that you have your ISP data handy before you do this.
Please let us know how it work out.
Good luck!

Yes a keyboard will be useful but the most important thing in a studio is sound. If you can't hear what you're doing it's so frustrating. If you're just starting out you may think that having ok sound will do the trick but it won't be long before you're not sure if you're hearing your mix or your speakers when you're mixing on bad speakers. I'd much rather make house music with good sound than a keyboard.
For good speakers, you're looking for near field monitors, they differ from standard speakers in that they try to reproduce accurately the sound you feed them, standard speakers try to "sound good". There's a pretty big difference between the two, sounding good usually means a compressed sound with not a lot of middle frequencies. For house, you'll probably want a sub.
Either way, a keyboard is nice to have, if you don't have any previous experience with keyboards, you might as well just get the 25 key (get it velocity sensitive especially useful for drums). M-audio have a pretty good value.

Seems like a pretty good choice. I didn't realize anything was beating the Vertexes, although it's been about a year since I went shopping. (The IBM's were always a little faster, but a lot more dollars as well.)

hi,
I'm having trouble with vertical distance in GoLive.
eg: my home page.
I want to have a certain distance between various headings and sections of www.eclispenow.org but really can't seem to get the "box" tool working properly. Any ideas for guaranteeing vertical distance... without getting into html? (Html scares me at this stage.)

I suggest TextWrangler and CSSEdit.
I'd recommend avoiding WYSIWYG editors; once you learn the language, you will be able to produce much more elegant code than the editor.
Even the latest version of DreamWeaver doesn't fully support CSS in WYSIWYG - and it will be very hard for it to in any future version. No two broswers display CSS the same way, so doing WYSIWYG in CSS is pretty much like throwing darts at a board. :p
CSSEdit is really nice since it makes it very easy to navigate IDs and Classes, and it has auto-completion. The free version lets you create like 1200 lines of CSS or something, so you can get by with it (you can use it just to create the CSS, then just copy the text over to TextWrangler to save as large as you want).
Just my $0.02

Heh, you really are turning into the old man of macrumors there jef ;) I agree though. It's a shame those you listed (and omitted) were either too contentious for others to handle, or lost interest due to one reason or another. There's so many new members now that it's hard to get to know anyone like in the early days of MR.
Then again, you could always become a demi. Things get a lot more personal in there ;)

Whilst it's hardly the prettiest machine in the world (or maybe the thinest) this laptop (http://www.mobilityguru.com/2005/12/05/ati_mobility_radeon_x1600/page4.html) as this new chip. It'd imagine that Apple could better this in terms of thinness and still use this GPU.

If you've got the matter/silver ones, then you'll just need a miniDisplayPort to DVI adapter as well as an HDMI male to DVI female adapter

Why am I folding?
Because:
1) To help find a cure for disease.
2) To help the MR Folding Team.
3) Makes me feel good to have my Mac doing something important.
4) Keeps me nice and warm during winter (and rather hot unfortunately during summer).

Tell your friend he's right. Then tell him he should stick with windows. Then tell him to post a blog entry somewhere everytime his anti-virus/anti-malware tells him it found something. Then tell him you'll do the same. The one with the most posts at the end of the year give's the other one $1000.00.
See if he knows the odds of him winning.
Enjoy
