Also, my mac mini is sick. I think it got the TB outbreak that happened at my school :o
I can take it to the genius bar on Friday! even more of an excuse, right? :)
Shame my dad can't come

Yes, I did. But I listed the item as "as-is" with no returns. Is there any way the buyer can get around this?
I wouldn't think so because he accepted the terms of the deal when he bid. It's a legal contract, but call eBay to find out for sure.

I am not sure if this is the right section.
I like giving away free information based on my experiences. I wish more people did it so I wouldn't have to buy laptop parts from bad suppliers.
I know people like t fix things themselves. What I would like to do here is have a list of good suppliers for certain parts where the end user can buy parts for their Macbook one at a time, and a list of ones to avoid, with the reasons why. My experiences will be devoid of bias, personal remarks, and stick to places where I have had the unfortunate experience of doing repeat business.
I will update this list over time, and I encourage others to chime in. there are many suppliers I have used not listed here since I don't have all the names and information ready off hand.
I am only listing suppliers of use to people looking to buy one part, not places that specialize in quantities of 50+, as that is useless to joe-blow looking to fix his out of warranty laptop.
The hall of fame:
sunvalleytek/sunvalleyus/smartlaptopparts(on ebay)
They have occasionally sent out the incorrect screen, when they did, they paid for return shipping. They offer amazing prices, and a great RMA process
screenaid(on ebay)
see sunvalleyus. They are also great for local pickup in NYC. Unlike sunvalleyus, they do not ship the model they give you in the title. They ship a samsung or something else. For the 13.3" macbook, they do not ship the regular model samsung apple uses. It looks the same to me, but the brightness/dim buttons` on the keyboard will not work unless you have some drivers/a newer OSX installed.
izashop (on ebay)
small things like top cases, bezels, etc. fast shipping, best prices, good parts.
screencountry
Their prices fluctuate greatly, which is unfortunate. However, they have a plethora of LCDs to select from, the occasional quantity discount, great shipping rates, and decent support.
The hall of SHAME:
blisscomputers/expresslcdscreens/browngranite
they claim to use "compatible" parts. However, what they send out is often ****. no model, no name junk with
- bars down the left side of the LCD
- poor fit
- washed out colors
I have, and others have, been roped into buying from them on numerous occasion. I am hoping someone I heard from recently who went through the experience I did will chime in here. Their parts are trash. They are notorious for the 15.4" LED LCDs that go for $177.
It is fine to sell alternative compatible models, but they truly stretch the definition of compatible. screencountry does this with a few LCDs, but they ship out ones where there is no visible difference, of established brand names and well known models.
ultradrives(ebay)
Imagine you buy part A. The eBay ad claims 13 available and a day later you'll receive an email with "GREAT NEWS!" claiming he's totally out of them, but that he can upgrade you to part B. You say sure, then he asks for more money. But you agreed to the price for part A. It's classic bait & switch, while being careless on eBay I made the mistake of using him a few times.

i am interested in the ram from the powermac, is it two 512mb sticks or 4 256mb sticks or a 1Gb stick, if it is a 512mb i am definitely interested for my dad!
I'd rather keep the PM G4 intact but I'll let you know if I part it out.

The 8800GS in the iMac was a mobile GPU, not a desktop GPU. Even then, the 8800GS was quite a bit behind an 8800GT, never mind an 8800GTS.
A 6770 would be a noticeable upgrade. It's not a 6970, but still a very noticeable upgrade. Though yeah, don't expect to crank at native res on a 27" for new games. Still it's 6 GPU generations ahead of what you had, and the new display has 60% more pixels.
TL;DR: enjoy your upgrade.

If I had a nickel for every time Ockham's razor was misused in an argument and a penny for every time people purposely misunderstand the subject of an analogy (presumably to get their daily fix of outrage), I'd be able to pay off America's national debt and have enough money left over to pay for BPs forthcoming legal bills.

While you can set the G5 up to be a file server, it's kind of a waste in my opinion. I'd investigate selling the G5 and get a Drobo or an external drive and then serve files from your iMac.

Have they checked that they are not just props left by the Doctor Who production team?
Ha ha - very good. At least it wasn't the Spinal Tap one...
As for Time Team - did they find an actual full henge? (Well all the post holes)? I can't remember either... (I thought it was the local work camp and an explanation of the ritual landscape?)

Holy crap, that program is amazing. I just tried it out on a song that was labeled ZHFR from when I transferred music back from my ipod to my hard drive (long story) and it figured out exactly what it was. Craziest part is there was no tagging besides the 4 letters and it was an a cappella version from my college.
Totally buying this tomorrow when I'm by my credit card.

Thanks for the advice. I did open my 60gb and it feels great to be able to fit everything on it again and backup my full-size photos. I didn't necessarily want a video-iPod but I thought they may just update battery life, functions, design, etc. Here's to at least a few months of no iPod updates since I just bought a new one :)
I wish you all the best. Sounds as though you made a wise decision.

I read the info about Katie Melua -- didn't play any of her music on iTunes because it was in the wee hours of the morn and didn't want to disturb my neighbors, but I'll be giving her a listen today -- and noticed that one of her songs pays homage to Eva Cassidy. Now there's a singer you should hear if you haven't already been captivated by her incredible voice! Unfortunately, her albums aren't on iTunes, you'd have to check her out at other websites -- probably you can hear portions of her songs at Amazon or Tower. Two fairly standard songs to which she gives incredible new meaning are "Danny Boy" and "Over the Rainbow." Her version of "Over the Rainbow" just blows Judy Garland right out of the water and then some. It is simply stunning.
Eva Cassidy, sadly, is no longer with us. She died of cancer several years ago, but thankfully, her music lives on. All of Eva's albums have actually been released posthumously and for a long time she was known only to people in the DC area who frequented local jazz clubs. She had an amazing and eclectic approach to songs and did a little of eveything, from ballads to gospel to jazz "scat" tunes. Her voice was especially suited to ballads and she worked wonders with just her voice and a guitar....

Im going to a party this weekend, and I will be bringing my cell (I usually dont because I get drunk)
I want to plan ahead incase this happens, what will happen if some idiot steals it?
Do I call Rogers up (my carrier) and tell them? Will they charge me something and give me a replacement phone?
