IMTA alumni films at the Austin Film Festival!

The 15th annual Austin Film Festival screened some of the best upcoming films and shorts and IMTA alumni starred in 3 of them! "The Festival is dedicated to furthering the art, craft, and business of screenwriting and filmmaking by providing unique, year-round cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation, and encouraging dynamic and long-lasting community partnerships," according to their official mission statement.

In the comedy horror, My Name is Bruce Grace Thorsen plays the lead, Kelly, which debuted at the Austin Film Festival. The story revolves around a monster who is killing people in a small mining town in Oregon. Grace won the title of Actress of the Year at IMTA convention in Los Angeles, January 2007. Her films include the dramatic Sixes and the One Eyed King, See Me Dance and she has appeared in a television series called Pastor Greg. Grace has many national commercials on her resume and was a spokesperson for Lad Advertising! Grace is in post-production on Calvin Marshall, a baseball comedy movie. Another very talented IMTA alum's film screened at the Austin film Festival; Seann William Scott in the hilarious Role Models! In this film, Seann plays Wheeler, an immature energy drink salesman. When he and his partner in sales get in trouble with the law, they have to perform 150 hours as Big Brother mentors. This leads to hilarious situations and shenanigans. Seann competed at IMTA in Los Angeles in 1995. His break-through role was as Stifler in the hit comedy American Pie and in the cult movie Dude Where's my Car? which had him teaming up with a fellow IMTA alum Ashton Kutcher. He has also starred in The Dukes of Hazzard, The Rundown, Bulletproof Monk, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Trainwreck: My Life as an Idiot, Southland Tales and The Promotion. His most recent film, Mr. Woodcock was a top ten box office hit! Role Models in scheduled to be released in theaters November 7!


IMTA alum Jill Wagner's new feature film Splinter also screened at this year's annual Austin Film Festival! You can get a sneak peak by watching the trailer above! Jill plays Polly Watt, the female lead in the film. A leading horror site describes the plot as, "The creature-feature is set in and around a quiet gas station on a lonely freeway, where a terrifying virus-like monster inhabits the bodies of its victims and drives them with a relentless lust for blood. The virus monster twists the bodies of its prey into the shapes best suited to carry out its unrelenting desire to infect more victims and kill again." Jill competed at IMTA in Los Angeles in 2001 where she won Female Model of the Year! Many people know Jill as the Lincoln Mercury car girl. She played an operative on fellow IMTA alum Ashton Kutcher's hilarious show Punk'd and while on the show she punk'd Katie Holmes, yet another IMTA alum! Her television roles include Monk, Dr. Vegas, starring as Larrin in Stargate Atlantis, Blade: The Series, and she starred in the independent films Junebug and Shifted. Jill was a co-host of the hit reality summer series, Wipeout!
