CHINESE GARDEN STOOLS......

I'm sure you've all noticed these little garden stools that have been popping up everywhere. They originated in China during the Ming Dynasty over 1000 years ago.  Made originally just for the garden but they have gradually been making their way inside.  They are usually made from ceramic and often are intricately designed and generally, perforated and drum shaped.  Before the new affordable versions hit our western stores they were quite an expensive antique, and if you had one it was a sign of wealth. Here's some a couple of examples of antique stools, the first one is wooden:

These stools became very popular due to their long life span, as they can last from one generation to the next.   They also do not need any maintenance, except the occasional wiping to clean off the dust and dirt.  Being made of ceramic they are heat and water resistant.  However, in our cold climate they would have to be brought in for the winter.
Here's some in the great outdoors:

You see them frequently in interiors now.  Which I think is due to the fact that they are so versatile and can be used in the living room, the entry, the family room and even a bedroom.  Here's some examples:

So do you have a garden stool yet? And if so, where do you use it?

I have one and I move it around all the time.  It is sometimes used as a stool in the entryway and sometimes as a side table in the family room or living room.

I believe that every space can be comfortable, warm, elegant and beautiful. I would love to help you achieve your beautiful space!
